You Have Your Lebanon And …

You have your Lebanon and its dilemma. I have my Lebanon and its beauty. Your Lebanon is an arena for men from the West and men from the East.

My Lebanon is a flock of birds fluttering in the early morning as shepherds lead their sheep into the meadow and rising in the evening as farmers return from their fields and vineyards.

You have your Lebanon and its people. I have my Lebanon and its people. …..

Sundays in Lebanon is time to spend with friends and family. We arranged with some friend to drive our cabrios down the Beqaa Valley to Lake Qaraoun and ultimately to Chateau Kefraya winery. Autumn is just around the corner and mother nature is offering its

fruits in full color.

Apples and pears ….

… figs … got to love these figs … fig tart any one? Dessertsforbreakfast had a fig tart recipe on their blog. Go and try it …. AMAZING … and great pictures.

Then there was of course walnuts ….

… not quite there yet. But soon … About six weeks ago, on our last trip to Qaraoun I took some home to steep in Vodka for a Walnut Liquor. Next week we will have the first taste of our range of homemade liquors …

The olive still need a bit also ….

But the …

Peaches … plump and ripe. Try it as Poached Peaches  or White Peach Tartelettes With Rosemary Sugar .

I also came across some

Prickly Pear Cactus. Would make excellent sorbet …

But the price of today must go to the pumpkins we saw on our way down Beqaa Valley.

How great is that …… could see these piles about a mile from down the road.

And here are ….

Lunch …

Myst de Château Kefraya, a celebration wine … what ever that means … but this is what we came for. A glass of wine with friends. To relax and celebrate the successes of the past week and to get ready for the coming week. But also to be part, however brief, of summer. Lebanon’s summer … with it’s colors … it’s flavors and tastes. To celebrate your Lebanon and to celebrate My Lebanon …

… Cheers
